Excess Flow Valve

What is an Excess Flow Valve?

An excess flow valve is a safety device that is installed on the natural gas pipeline. It automatically closes when there is damage to the service line and prevents the uncontrolled release of natural gas. The flow of gas is resumed once the situation has been remedied.

Regulations require that new or replaced single-family residence service lines install an excess flow valve. This helps keep your home and our communities safe.
